REV. TIM JOHNSON of esoterik culture magazine HAMMER in London reunites with JIMMY VARGAS of the BLACK DAHLIAS for a Q & A about the re-release of his fifth and sixth albums.
HAMMER: With the re-issue of your BLACK WIDOW album, now in 2014, there is a huge difference between this and the original 2004 version…Why is that?” JIMMY VARGAS: “The mark one version of BLACK WIDOW was culled with tracks that were more tuned to an already existing jazz swing market for whom the combo was performing to live, and the more experimental pieces were held off, now I’m raiding the vault from that time, and letting those pieces out, to take their rightful place. It’s a soundtrack album in the greater sense of the meaning. More sonorous moments, metallic gasps and back masquing as you’d hear in a Val Lewton forties RKO horror pic.” Full Interview MAY 2014…at http://www.jimmyvargas.com
