Trash Baggery were there on Wednesday 14th of December to experience the Jimmy Vargas and the Black Dahlias show titled ‘Noirsville’, which could be best described as a blend of crime jazz, blues and burlesque rolled into one great show.

The lights were dimmed low, jazz music played softly in the background and the crowd gathered in the seating area and enjoyed a meal as they waited for the show to begin. With the room tuned for a seance to the other side of Hollywood nineteen forties the Black Dahlias commenced the set with a seamy blues number, laying out a sleazy carpet of sound for the croonoir, and when Jimmy Vargas apparitioned from the smoke you felt instantly transported back to 1947, an era where gangsters and molls ruled the streets and seedy jazz bars.

Vargas crooned though all his greatest hits including the noir crime anthem Black Dahlia, the haunting torch of The Girl You Left Behind and the sassy stripteasin’ Tallulah’s Boudoir with his tantalising muse, Miss Liliana Scarlatta who throughout slinked at his side as a stalking nineteen forties hollywood angel, adding a cinderous perfume of dangerous burlesque to the performance.
